UFC Fight Night 86: Live Results, Play-by-Play and Fight Card Highlights

UFC Fight Night 86 is live from Croatia.

Headlining the event is a heavyweight contest between former champion Junior Dos Santos and emerging challenger Ben Rothwell. Dos Santos is looking to rebound from a stoppage loss to Alistair Overeem, while Rothwell enters the match riding a four-fight winning streak.

The co-main event, another heavyweight tilt, features Gabriel Gonzaga and Derrick Lewis. Gonzaga won for the first time in four tries last December, while Lewis has knocked his last two opponents out.

  Round 3 - Whiteford lands a leg-kick, then lands another. Martins is able to answer with a cross and an uppercut as he keeps his distance, likely wary of the takedown.

  The men exchange shots in the center of the Octagon, Martins with another right hand, Whiteford with a counter left. Again, the crowd lets the fighters have it, unhappy with the pace of the action. Martins brings a halt to the boos by landing a slapping leg-kick to the thigh.

  A shot from Whiteford fizzles out against the cage. He does manage to keep Martins contained against the chain-links for a short time, but the Brazilian breaks off.

  Round 2 - Whiteford lands a couple of light shots early on. He adds some force behind a hook to the body, then goes back for another one. Martins retaliates to the body with a kick that crashes into his opponent's ribs.

  The action slows a bit, much to the chagrin of the Zagreb audience, who are vocal in their displeasure. Spurred on, Whiteford throws and lands a left hand. Martins comes back with a kick and a cross. The action allays the displeasure of the fans momentarily, but the boos resurface.

  Martins lands again, a solid right hand. He adds another one of those before Whiteford pounces on a takedown. Martins is able to uses the fence to wall-walk back to his feet. He pushes off into space before the Round closes out.

  Round 1 - Whiteford lands a right hand early on. He enters again and Martins greets with with a crisp jab. Whiteford retaliates with a cross. Martins comes back with a hard right hand.

  Martins hits with a two-punch combination. Whiteford comes back with a leg-kick and a left to the body. A bodykick is the answer from Martins. In the next exchange, Whiteford connects with a pair of shots before eating the counter back from Martins.

  A left hook lands for Martins. He jumps up for a flying knee that causes Whiteford to initiate a clinch. Whiteford presses Martins to the fence, where he works short knees until the referee separates the men.

  Cannonier wins for the first time inside the Octagon. He expresses his intent to drop to light heavyweight after the fight. Asker's promotional debut is unsuccessful.

  Round 1 - Asker opens with a straight right hand that pushes Cannonier back. He then shoots for a takedown, but cannot push through the sprawl of Cannonier. Instead, the fighters grappling against the fence, Asker looking for a trip, Cannonier defending.

  Cannonier lands a left hand and a leg-kick. Asker fires back with a straight right. Cannonier is able to duck away from the next punch and counter with a bodyshot. He walks forward and collapses Asker with a heavy left hand. Cannonier follows his opponent down and finishes the fight with punches on the canvas.

  Round 3 - Di Chirico with a leg kick after the final round begins with a tentative gait. Velickovic attempts a single-leg takedown, but his stymied near the edge of the cage. He tries for another shot, but Di Chirico scrambles off and lands a couple punches in the break.

  The men clinch up, Velickovic scoring with a knee on the break. He again tries to move the action to the mat, but he's rebuffed once again. Di Chirico again uses the scramble to connect with some shots.

  Di Chirico completes a takedown, then stands. He dives back in with a hard right hand. He stands again, this time allowing Velickovic to scramble up. Di Chirico lands a couple punches before the final horn.

  Round 2 - Velickovic lands a solid shot early on, but Di Chirico catches him with a solid counter. Velickovic goes to a knee, but he recovers quickly. Di Chirico is able to add a left, a leg-kick then a right hook in the next exchange.

  As Di Chirico hunts for more, Velickovic finds the range with a series of counter punches. He looks to shift gears with a takedown. He manages to get the action to the canvas, but Di Chirico is able to pop back to his feet instantly.

  Velickovic looks for a spinning kick to the head, but Di Chirico casually ducks the strike and counters with a right. Di Chirico then completes a takedown, but Velickovic reverses with a kimura, rolling to the top. He cranks on his opponent's arm, but Di Chirico guts it out until the bell.

  Round 1 - Velickovic lands a hard bodykick, Di Chirico a crisp counter left hook. Di Chirico comes back with a right hand to the gut of his opponent, avoiding the counter. In the next exchange both guys hit, Velickovic hitting with a hard leg-kick.

  The fight falls into a leg-kick exchange, the men taking turns blasting away at one another's lead leg. Di Chirico has the audacity to throw a punch, but Velickovic dances away. shortly after the two trade some more kicks.

  Velickovic lands a right hand after Di Chirico clips him with a left. Velickovic goes head-hunting to end the round, landing a solid left hand at the horn.
